Pro Ventum International GmbH is in the process to developing  a wind energy facility at Mount Gellibrand in the Colac Otway Shire. The following pages will introduce the proposed wind energy facility and inform about the planning application process.

Energy is of fundamental importance to our every day lives. Societies need vast  

amounts of energy. As the human population increases so does its requirements for  energy.

For more than a century the source of our energy has not been as issue, as plentiful resources of fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gas have provided us with a cheap source of power for our homes, industries and transport. While the planet still has enough reserves of fossil fuels to last many years it has become apparent that there will be serious environmental consequences if we continue to use them. Western nations must begin to use energy in a more responsible way, and reduce the impact their energy use has on the environment if we are to have a sustainable future.

It is expected that world energy demand will increase between 40% and 50% over the next 25 years. Alternative and renewable energy sources that have very little impact on the environment will need to play a major part.

Wind energy not only produces no waste products, it also displaces coal and natural gas as fuel sources, reducing the amount of greenhouse gases and other pollutants released into the atmosphere.
