July 2004          Pro Ventum International GmbH seeking advise on whether the proposed windfarm Mount Gellibrand

                         requires Assessment under the Environment Effects Act (1978) from Minister for Planning

October 2004   Minister for Planning, Mary Delahunty MP has determined that an Environment Effects Statement is 

                         not required under the Environment Effects Act (1978)

April 2005         Pro Ventum International GmbH has submitted the planning application to establish

                          a 232 MW wind energy facility at Mount Gellibrand

Juni 2005          Pro Ventum are holding 2 Public Information Days at the Colac Otway Performing Arts Centre (COPAC - Meeting Room 1)

                         to allow people to learn more about the proposal.

                        You are invited to drop in on 9th of June between midday and 7.00pm and on 10th of June between 10am and 4pm

                         to look at the proposal and speak with Pro Ventum representatives.

Juni 2005         The Commonwealth Department of Environment & Heritage has made the decision that the Mt. Gellibrand Windfarm project

                        is not a controlled action under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act 1999.

                       This means that the proposal will not require approval under the EPBC Act –only  under the relevant state and

                        local government legislation and planning scheme. <Decision EPBC Act>

October 2005  The Minister for Planning has appointed a 3 person Panel consisting Mr Chris Harty, Ms Esther Kay and Mr. Bob Evans to

                        consider submission received in response to the permit application. The 5 day public hearing including two site visits have been

                        held over 14 days in October at the Colac Visitor Information Centre. The public hearing gave the people an opportunity to

                        be heard in support of their submission.

December 2005

                       The panel report has been completed and submitted to the Minister for Planning end of December. The panel report will not

                       be released until the Minister has made his decision.

 

August 2006   The Victorian Minister for Planning, Rob Hulls has approved the 232 MW Mt Gellibrand Windfarm project. The decision

                       strongly endorsed the merits of the project approving all of the 116 turbines proposed in the application.

                       The windfarm site has been chosen very carefully, in order to avoid any sensitive environmental areas and has considered

                       mitigation measures to minimise environmental and community impact during construction and operation.
